JOOMIN
HWANG

Joomin is the first Korean native in the history to perform on the TONY AWARDS since 1947. He was born and raised in South Korea. He grew up as a breakdancer since he was 12 years old until he "accidentally" fell in love with musical theater in London where he performed a dance comedy show BREAK OUT at Peacock Theatre, West End.  He watched Billy Elliot the musical there and it was the most magical experience in his entire life.  Musical Theater completely changed Joomin life which leads him to a too good to be true dream of Broadway. Since 2013, He started learning how to speak English where he started his music program in University of Wisconsin.
After he moved to New York in 2015, He played a principal role TIMMY X in the Off-Broadway show KPOP. KPOP won the Best Musical at Lucille Lortel awards 2017. His recent production, The Prom Broadway, closed with a big support from the Broadway community for it’s message and positive contribution between LGBTQ society and this world.  Finally, he made his dream come true! Joomin became the only Korean-male performer who merged into Broadway again from South Korea musical theater since 1985. Joomin expands his career to screen as well.  He filmed one episode as a Co-star in IRON FIST season 2. He played the lead TOSHI in a featured comedy film Hail Mary! directed by Ziad H. Hamzeh. In a Hollywood film Isn't It Romantic,  he appears as one of the featured dancers. He will also appear in In The Heights movie produced by Warner Brothers which will release on June 29th, 2020. Living in New York and doing what he loves to do is unbelievably sweet dream for Joomin.
